Vetivert ( Vetiveria zizanoides )
Extraction is by steam distillation from the washed, dried, chopped and then soaked, rootlets.

Odour - deep, smoky, earthy-woody, reminiscent of roots and wet earth.

History - known in Sri Lanka as 'Oil of Tranquility' and used in
the East since antiquity.

Uses - said to strengthen the body's connective tissue and beneficial
for weak, loose or fatigued skin.  Has been used for arthritis,
rheumatism and muscular pain to warm and increase circulation. Relaxing
and 'grounding' it is helpful for stress, anxiety, insomnia or depression;
physical, mental and emotional burnout resulting from total exhaustion.
May be helpful during the menopause to reduce symptoms of hot flushes; for
weepiness and depression in pre-menstrual syndrom.

Blends with - clary sage, lavender, jasmine, rose, sandalwood, ylang ylang.
The major constituents in our oil are available on request (GC/MS)
