Lemon ( Citrus limonum )

Extraction is by expression of the fresh peel.

Odour - fresh, sharp citrus

History - Known to the Greeks and Romans. The fruit was used to counteract the effects of scurvy in the British Navy. Extensively used fragrance in soap, detergents and toiletries.

Uses - high antibacterial properties make it a useful oil around the home, use in an air spray, vapouriser or infusion etc. Helpful for rheumatism, gout and arthritis. It has also been used for cellulite, abscesses, boils and carbuncles. It has an astringent and cleansing effect on greasy skin. Useful for warts, chilblains, sore throats and throat infections. It improves ability to concentrate, clarifying and uplifting the intellect, it calms, lightens and refreshed, dispersing confusion and easing worry.

Blends with - other citrus oils, eucalyptus, frankincense, ginger, juniper, lavender, neroli, rose, rosemary, sandalwood, ylang-ylang.

Safety - non-toxic, may cause dermal irritation or sensitisation.
